A gluttonous week of powder skiing

I left SLC for the time surrounding Thanksgiving, conveniently avoiding an extended period of high pressure and bad air. When I returned, I had about five days of waiting before the first proper winter storm came. We received about 1-2 ft of really nice snow, refreshing upper LCC and building base in the mid canyons and BCC.

Ben and I took advantage, moving work schedules around & firing up the night skiing routine. Some pics:

That day, we exited from Mt. Wolverine via Catherine's area. Halfway through the exit we were forced to sidestep about 50 ft. Coincidence? #altaisforsidesteppers

I know it's not the most exciting skiing for some people, but I seriously relish low-angle, BCC pow skiing. These are some of my favorite memories and photos.

Good enough to come back Friday, especially when we got another coating of snow :)

Resort day: caught a Ballroom rope drop at Alta (and a few others throughout the day). It was fun, and lapping with a lift is a lot of fun, but I really find resort skiing very angsty/panicked/tedious. We'll see...

It's hard to capture pictures when night skiing, but Ben did a great job grabbing some videos of me breaking trail & skiing through what was verified cold smoke. Check it out here.

I'm writing this from California, traveling over the Christmas holidays, as Utah gets some more storms! Hopefully a lot more of the above in the next few weeks & months to come!
